What procedures have you gotten done with Bruno Brown?
I’ve gotten Botox, dermal filler, and a facial. I’ve gotten Botox twice and the filler once.
What area did you have done?
I had the area around my mouth done as I was getting a lot of those fine wrinkles around the mouth- almost like smoker lines even though I don’t smoke. They were really bothering me.
When did you see results?
A week at the most, not very long.
How long did the treatment take?
I was there for probably 20 minutes, maybe half an hour, and I did Botox at the same time. For the filler, it was just a lot of little pricks around the mouth.
Did it hurt?
The area right around my lips did hurt. I didn’t say anything at the time, but now I know to ask for more numbing. Don’t be a hero
We’ve all seen the specials at spas for deals on Botox treatments and wondered what the difference was between the spa treatment and a medical professional. Botox results can turn disastrous if not done by an experienced plastic surgeon. You can end up with tired, droopy eyes or a frozen look.
This patient is a working professional in her early 50s.
Real Life Botox Experience Q&A
Why Bruno | Brown Plastic Surgery?
I had gotten Botox done before at a med spa several times. I got a recommendation to go to Bruno | Brown because I had always gone to a med spa and a friend told me, “Why aren’t you going to a plastic surgeon? To someone who actually knows what they’re doing.”
I thought, ‘Oh yeah, that’s probably a better idea.’ The perception in my mind was it was going to be way more expensive, way more. But in reality, the price wasn’t that much more, nearly on par.
When did you see results?
It starts kicking in around day three, full results were in a week.
What did the procedure feel like?
Botox doesn’t hurt, I really didn’t feel it.
How long did the treatment take?
It’s really fast- maybe 10-15 minutes.
Why should I go to a Plastic Surgeon for my Botox Treatment?
When done correctly, Botox can smooth crow’s feet, reduce the appearance of forehead wrinkles and the lines in the folds between the nose and lips. However, when someone with limited experience administers Botox, they could possibly make the injections in the wrong spot, too deep, or too low. This can cause unwanted side effects, like a frozen forehead or cause eyelids to droop.
You always want Botox treatments to be given by a trained and experienced medical professional. The doctors at Bruno | Brown Plastic Surgery are experienced and qualified to perform Botox treatments and will determine what the best methods are to achieve your desired look.

Botox Treatment and Recovery
You may have some minor swelling or pain at the injection site, this usually goes away almost immediately after the initial injection. There is no recovery time for this procedure, and the process usually takes between 10-15 minutes. Results can last between 4-6 months in certain areas. Because the risks are minimal, it’s the perfect option for those who are just starting to look into updating their appearance without having to undergo a major surgical procedure or deal with a long recovery process.
Botox should be administered by a trained and experienced medical professional. Specifically, it should be administered by someone who is knowledgeable and experienced in their field, such as the doctors at Bruno | Brown Plastic Surgery.
Someone with limited experience giving Botox could possibly make the injections too deep, too low, or in the wrong spot. This could cause negative side effects, like droopy eyelids or a “frozen look”. Dr. Brown explains further on how he prevents this from happening:
“The tendency to treat fully the forehead lines allows the brow to drop, thereby giving the eyes a tired/droopy and frozen look. I go lighter on the forehead for this very reason; balance it with the elevation from the frown lines and the crow’s feet and it looks more natural.
Although we aim to get a perfect result every time, it’s often better to undercorrect as you can always add more if needed.”
Micro-needling with PRP, also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a non-invasive procedure involving a mechanical pen that creates tiny channels at a specific depth in the skin to trigger the body’s natural healing process in order to create new collagen and elastin. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons goes into further detail on the micro-needling process used for this treatment.
During this procedure, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is obtained by drawing a small amount of blood from your arm into a sterile tube. The PRP is then applied topically during and after the micro-needling procedure in which the top layer of skin is penetrated without being damaged.
Micro-needling with PRP: What to Expect
This procedure can take as little as twenty minutes with a recovery time of just 4-6 days. You should expect to experience some redness and mild peeling. One PRP patient goes into further detail on how the treatment:
First, Sara will put numbing cream all over your face and neck. Once it’s kicked in, you don’t feel much of anything other than a vibration. For me, it was nearly painless during the procedure. Once the numbing cream starts to wear off it feels like you’ve been sunburned and your face feels hot.
You leave the office with PRP on your face (it’s clear and looks like you’re walking around with a light gel facemask on). Your face is pretty red right after the procedure, but I was able to pretty effectively cover the redness with makeup the day after.
What are the Benefits to Micro-needling with PRP?
Treated stretch marks
Minimized appearance of age spots
Reduced signs of premature aging
Improved appearance of rosacea
Improvement in skin tone and texture
Reduction of scares
Firmer, more even skin
New collagen and elastin produced
Micro-needling with PRP will consistently trigger the bodies repair process until your desired level of skin rejuvenation is achieved. While this procedure does penetrate the top layer of the skin, it does not cause damage and results can last up to one year.

Have you been thinking about getting a breast-lift but are intimidated by the procedure and recovery time? BodyTite might be the right option for you.
BodyTite: The new, less invasive alternative to a traditional breast-lift.
BodyTite was recently cleared by the FDA and is quickly gaining popularity due to its quick results and minimal scarring. This procedure uses radio-frequency aided lipolysis (RFAL) for three-dimensional remodeling and contouring. RFAL melts and removes excess fat through a tiny incision made in an inconspicuous location. Unlike other forms of liposuction, BodyTite removes fat while it simultaneously tightens the skin.
BodyTite was featured in a recent issue of Harper’s Bazaar Magazine. The technology behind BodyTite is a popular option for someone looking for a breast-lift. Harper’s Bazaar talked to Elie Levine, M.D., a plastic surgeon in New York, who spoke about the procedure and its ideal candidate:
“While the results are ‘real and predictable’ says Levine, the ideal candidate is someone with a C cup or smaller, a body mass index of less than 30, and skin that’s healthy enough to crank out collagen. That’s because once the procedure is over, RF’s[radio-frequency] real work can start- by gradually growing collagen. You won’t be wowed immediately post-treatment, but what follows is ‘quite remarkable’ Levine adds. ‘Most people begin to notice the lift a few weeks after, and it really becomes evident two to three months out, with breasts continuing to tighten and lift for up to 24 months.’”
In addition to a Breast-Lift, other areas BodyTite can target include:
This procedure usually takes one to three hours and no overnight hospital stay is required. The DC-based BodyTite procedure results in less swelling, bruising, and less recovery time than a traditional liposuction procedure.

One Patient’s Real Life DC Breast Implant Experience
We interviewed a Bruno | Brown patient who recently underwent a breast implant procedure. She shares her experience with Bruno | Brown Plastic Surgery and the breast augmentation procedure.
Why Bruno | Brown Plastic Surgery?
I chose them because my OBGYN recommended them. Then, after I did extensive research, (and I’m one that only goes to the best doctors), I saw that the doctors at Bruno | Brown Plastic Surgery had been well vetted and featured as one of the Top Doctors in DC in Washingtonian Magazine. Just reading up on Dr. Brown and his background I felt really good about him on paper. Then the test was going to be his bedside manner, and I absolutely adored him. He was great to talk to, he was very calm, informative, and I felt very comfortable.
Have you had any other procedures done?
Yes, I had SmartLipo for my abdomen and flank. However, it didn’t give me the results I wanted. The doctors at Bruno | Brown Plastic Surgery did tell me that the results I was after wouldn’t be achieved by just this, but I tried it anyway. Although I did see some results it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. So, I ended up coming back for a breast augmentation and a full tummy tuck.
What made you decide to have breast augmentation?
Since I was already under for the tummy tuck I thought why don’t we just go ahead and do the breast augmentation. I said I was happy with the size of my breasts, I just wanted them to look fuller. He gave me his honest opinion about what to do, what they’d look like, he listened and made sure we were on the same page so I knew what I was getting.
Fat grafting: Uses liposuction to transfer fat from other parts of the body to the breasts, giving a fuller look
Saline implants: A silicone shell is filled to your desired volume, increasing size and shape of cleavage
Silicone implants: More viscous than saline, a silicone shell is filled to the desired volume and offers a more natural look
Ideal implants: Uses a series of implant shells nested together and two separate chambers that hold saline, providing a natural feel and youthful look

Aging, or significant life events such as pregnancy, can change the overall appearance of your figure and leave you with stubborn fat that diet and exercise alone are unable to remove. Perhaps you experienced a significant weight loss but are now left with loose, hanging skin- an adverse effect of an otherwise positive change. Also known as an abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck can completely reshape the abdomen.
We interviewed a Bruno | Brown patient who recently got a Tummy Tuck. She shares her experience with Bruno | Brown Plastic Surgery and the procedure.
What type of tummy tuck procedure did you have? Full/mini/extended? Full. I also had liposuction around my flanks.
How long have you wanted to have a tummy tuck?I had been seriously thinking about it for about 3 years. I had thought about it longer than that, but I started seriously considering it about 3 years ago, started doing research, looking at doctors. I didn’t know anyone who had a tummy tuck, but then people don’t really talk about it.
What finally made you pull the trigger? It was about the timing. I was not working at the time so was able to have the time away to recover. I was home, my kids didn’t have school since it was the summer. My mother is retired so I stayed with her for the first 4 weeks or so. It was the best time to do it.
What were you most nervous about? The anesthesia was really the only thing I was worried about. Dr. Brown was great, and I wasn’t worried about the results, I knew they’d be good. I had full confidence him. His bedside manner is incredible, he’s gifted and talented, that’s a great combination for the best doctor. The thing that really concerned me was the anesthesia.
I remembered when the anesthesiologist gave me the medicine to go out, I remember him holding my hand as I was counting backward. And rubbing my hand and he was saying ‘you’ll be fine’ and that’s all I remember and then I woke up and everything was fine.
