There are several different ways your breast reconstruction can be accomplished. The doctors at Bruno | Brown Plastic surgery will discuss the options based on what works best for you.

Flap reconstruction: DIEP flap uses your own tissue from the lower abdomen to reconstruct the breast. In this procedure, no muscle is used, just the fat and skin alone. Latissimus flap uses this back muscle to cover the breast area and provide a nourishing blood supply.

Tissue expander: This is a process that involves placing an expander underneath the skin and filling it gradually to stretch the skin, making room for an implant.

Direct-to-Implant: This may be possible if there is sufficient tissue in the chest wall. Depending on which approach is best for you, we can immediately reconstruct your breast above the pectoral muscle with permanent implants.

While many women look to breast reconstruction after battling cancer, the procedure is also relevant in the following cases:

• When suffering from breast abnormalities or asymmetry, often from previous surgery
• When surgical procedures in the past did not provide the desired result and the patient is looking to have corrective surgery
