3 Types of Rhinoplasty in Washington, DC

Dulles Rhinoplasty

Your guide to the 3 types of rhinoplasty in the DC area

Rhinoplasties are one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the world, popular for altering the shape and size of the nose. Also known as a nose job, the procedure can help individuals change the look of their nose, balance their facial features, and even have medical benefits such as improved breathing ability.

With advancing technology, doctors are able to achieve your ideal nose in a number of ways. There are three main techniques for nose correction, all which require different skill and expertise:

  • Traditional Rhinoplasty
  • Liquid Rhinoplasty
  • Revision Rhinoplasty

This blog will discuss the benefits and differences of each one.

Welcome to our blog! If you’re looking for rhinoplasty before and after photos, please click here.

1. Traditional Rhinoplasty

A traditional rhinoplasty is what you typically think of when you think of a nose job. This is the surgical approach to altering your nose anatomy in order to create better facial harmony.

Choosing to get your nose job in Washington, DC will give you access to the best doctors and most innovative techniques possible. Washington, DC rhinoplasty procedures can either be done open or closed.

  • Open Rhinoplasty: This is for patients who desire a full revision to their nose structure, whether it be altering the bridge profile, slimming the nose, changing the appearance of the tip, or manipulating the bone. This procedure does require bone-work, making it slightly more invasive and resulting in more incisions.
  • Closed Rhinoplasty: This is for patients who don’t need work to their bridge profile, structure, or bone, but rather are more concerned with the soft tissue of the tip of the nose. Because there is no bone-work, this approach is less invasive and requires less incisions.

Recovery for both approaches includes bruising, swelling, and some discomfort. Initial swelling will reside after 2 to 4 weeks, but final results may not be visible until 1 year.

2. Liquid Rhinoplasty in Washington, DC

A liquid rhinoplasty is a non-surgical procedure used for those who don’t need drastic altering or don’t want to commit to a full surgery. This procedure utilizes filler to fine-tune details and even out small abnormalities.

Patients who opt for a liquid rhinoplasty in DC often want to even out their dorsal hump, the ridge on the top of the nose. With just a few injections, the doctor can fill the uneven spaces and create the appearance of a straighter, more aesthetic nose shape.

This procedure requires no incisions and no surgical work to the bone or soft tissue, making recovery faster and results immediate.

3. Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasties are done when a patient has already had a rhinoplasty procedure, but wants further altering or corrective action. Because work has already been done in this area, this procedure can be trickier than the average rhinoplasty.

In order to understand your nose’s anatomy along with the previous adjustments, open rhinoplasties are often performed during a DC revision rhinoplasty. This allows the doctor to have full visualization and control of existing and future corrections.

Your recovery from your revision rhinoplasty in Washington, DC will differ depending on the extent of revision needed, but similar to recovery from a traditional rhinoplasty.

Why should I get a Washington, DC nose job?

Our doctors are skilled surgeons with years of experience. They have the knowledge and expertise to examine your nose, listen to your goals, suggest their professional opinion, and execute your rhinoplasty according to the consultation. Listen to what one of our patients had to say:

“I have been a patient of Dr. Bruno’s for several years now. He’s not only a talented surgeon, but he has a very gentle, comforting manner. I broke my nose recently, which would have been extremely traumatic if it weren’t for the calm and confident way he handled the situation. Based on past experience with him, I knew that he was the best person to do the surgery. The surgery was easy and painless and my nose looks great.” – Christine F.

Peels

We offer 3 types of chemical peel in DC, each with different strength levels depending on your skin’s needs.

Stimulator Peel

The ZO Stimulator Peel is a gentle yet effective chemical peel that produces glowing skin within 30 minutes. Unlike other peels, this treatment requires no down time. It is the perfect gentle treatment for skin that feels rough, scaly, or looks dull.

The Perfect Derma Peel

The Perfect Derma Peel is considered medium strength and penetrates deeper than the Stimulator Peel. This treatment has long-lasting benefits, including the treatment of melasma, sun damage, fine lines, texture, large pores, and dullness. Because of the deeper penetration, you will shed skin during the healing process.

ZO 3 Step Peel

The ZO 3 Step Peel is a potent blend of salicylic, lactic, and trichloracetic acid (TCA) with retinol cream. These chemicals penetrate the epidermis and upper dermis to promote cell turnover, collagen production, and balancing of the skin’s moisture. This peel causes sloughing of the damaged topmost layers of skin, making the skin shed during recovery slightly more intense than our other peels.

Light Therapy

Our Skin Care Center offers two forms of light therapy: the Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) Photo Facial and LightStim Red Light Therapy. Light therapy is a unique treatment that uses the energy and wavelengths from light to rejuvenate and correct your skin.

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) Photo Facial

The Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) Photo Facial targets unwanted discolorations in the skin using intense light energy. This includes mild sun damage, brown spots, freckles, redness, broken capillaries, fine lines, and irregular pigmentation. Treatment can be done on the face, neck, chest, and hands.

LightStim Red Light Therapy

LightStim Red Light Therapy uses wavelengths of light to penetrate deep into the skin, super-charging fibroblast cells to increase collagen production. This treatment gives the skin more volume and diminishes aging lines and wrinkles.

Studies show that when skin is exposed to LED light wavelengths, skin cells can regenerate up to 150% to 200% faster, while hydration can be increased by up to 600%.

Laser

Our Fractional Laser treatments are performed by our physicians and work by minimizing the appearance of fine lines, facial scars, and areas with uneven pigmentation. This treatment restores the health and vitality to your face in a series of 5 sessions. Treatment can be done to your lower eyelid, scars, or full face.

Everything to Know About Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation in Washington, DC

Sculpt your body and boost your breast volume at the same time with a fat transfer breast augmentation in DC!

Welcome to our blog! If you’re looking for fat transfer breast augmentation before and after photos, please click here.

Breast Augmentation With Fat Grafting, before and afterBreast augmentation procedures are among the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the world. Most of these augmentations are done using breast implants, but there’s another option that compliments your natural breast shape and treats stubborn areas of fat at the same time.

Fat transfer breast augmentations take unwanted fat from other areas of your body and use it to increase the size of your breasts without the use of implants. This approach results in a more subtle, natural looking result.

Here’s a step by step guide to getting a fat transfer breast augmentation in Washington, DC:

1. Have a consultation with your plastic surgeon

Having a consultation with your physician is vital to any cosmetic procedure process. Not only will it give you the opportunity to discuss your concerns and goals, it also allows your doctor to examine your current situation and determine the right plan of action.

During this consultation, you will discuss the difference between breast augmentation using implants and breast augmentation using fat grafting to ensure your doctor can reach your desired outcome appropriately. You will discuss your current breast shape, projection, and size and how you would like to see each factor change.

Your doctor will also explain liposuction and how it will be used during your procedure. You will discuss your target areas for fat removal, skin elasticity, current lifestyle and activity levels, and the difference between traditional tumescent liposuction and power-assisted liposuction.

2. Get the best liposuction in Washington, DC

In order to harvest the fat needed for your breast augmentation, your doctor will first need to perform liposuction. Your problem areas will be shaped and contoured with the wave of our magic sculpting wand.

This magic wand removes fat through suction, utilizing a thin metal tube that is worked into the layer of fat just below the skin. After the fat is removed, it will be harvested and processed for reuse.

3. Breast fat transfer in DC

Once the fat has been properly prepared for insertion, the doctor will inject it into the various layers of tissue within the breast using a special syringe. Your doctor will be able to customize the size and shape of your breast depending on the amount of fat harvested.

Your doctor will insert more fat than the goal amount because you will likely lose 1/3 to 1/4 of the fat during the healing process. Overfilling the breast will ensure your desired outcome.

4. Recovery from a breast fat transfer in Washington, DC

Recovery from a fat transfer breast augmentation is different from breast implant augmentation recovery. Because a fat transfer procedure is minimally invasive, recovery time is shorter and you can return to your normal activities sooner.

Your body does not have to adjust to a foreign object in the body or try to heal larger incisions, as you may experience with implant augmentation. You will experience bruising and swelling both in the breasts and at the liposuction site, but this will go away within 1-2 weeks.

5. DC fat transfer breast augmentation results

Both fat grafting and implant augmentations take time for the final result to develop. Fat transfer breast augmentations take up to 3 months to see the end results because the body gradually reabsorbs some of the fat injected into it. Breast implants can take up to 6 months for the implant to be fully settled.

The results from a fat transfer procedure will look and feel more natural. Because you are not inserting an implant, the shape and projection of your breast may not change drastically. Your breasts will heal to look “naturally bigger”.

End Your Worries With an Endoscopic Brow Lift in Washington, DC

Endoscopic Brow Lifts: The secret to restoring a youthful face

People age differently, but everyone experiences sagging skin at some point. As our skin laxity changes, we start to notice its effect on the appearance of our face. Wrinkles, jowls, hooded eyes, and lower brows become more prominent. You may be tempted to do a full facelift, but you may only need a brow lift.

Welcome to our blog! If you’re looking for brow lift before and after photos, please click here.

What’s an endoscopic brow lift?

An endoscopic brow lift is a type of brow lift that involves a few incisions right inside the hairline through which the tissue is released and then suspended. By tightening the deeper layers of your face, this avoids excessive pulling of the surface skin which could leave you with a permanently surprised expression. This procedure is a perfect subtle change to improve the downward pull of your aging face.

Upper blepharoplasty or brow lift?

Patients often experience fullness in their upper eyelid and come in wanting surgery to correct it, but don’t realize the role their eyebrows are playing. The eyebrows are the elevators of our face, so when they start to drag down they can complicate other facial features.

In females, the eyebrows typically sit above the supraorbital rim. In males, they sit right at the supraorbital rim. Depending on where your eyebrows are positioned, you may be better qualified for a brow lift, upper blepharoplasty, or both. This is why it’s important to have a consultation with your doctor to discuss the overall anatomy of your face.

Getting a brow lift in Washington, DC

Your doctor will work with you to determine which brow lift procedure will best suit your lifestyle, needs, and goals. Our physicians prefer to consider the overall harmony of your facial features, so you may discuss other techniques that can be combined with this procedure.

Brow lift afterBrow lift before

During your consultation, you will discuss factors including:

  • Skin elasticity
  • Drooping brows
  • Shape of brows
  • Surgical technique
  • Degree of skin that is sagging
  • Hairline

The brow lift procedure takes about 1 to 2 hours to perform and does not require an overnight hospital stay. Swelling, soreness, and bruising is expected but will subside over the first week. Recovery will take about 2 weeks but you may not see full results for 4 to 6 weeks.

Microneedling with PRP vs PRP Injections

What’s the difference between microneedling with PRP and PRP injections?

These popular procedures are non-surgical treatments used to combat the signs of aging using natural components from your own body.

Welcome to our blog! If you’re looking for PRP before and after photos, please click here.

What is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma, referred to as PRP, is considered liquid gold in the cosmetic world. Platelets are blood cells that come from plasma, the liquid portion of whole blood. These blood cells play a key role in our body’s necessary growth healing functions. We are able to utilize PRP to support and accelerate the body’s natural healing process.

Microneedling with PRP benefits

Microneedling is a skin care treatment mainly focusing on the face and neck that uses tiny needles to prick your skin, encouraging collagen production. This treatment improves fine lines, wrinkles, pores, scars, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, and “tech neck,” leaving your skin smoother and younger looking.

We use your own platelet-rich plasma to expedite healing and stimulate even more collagen and elastin for firmer, plumper skin. PRP’s healing benefits pair beautifully with the rejuvenating elements of microneedling. Microneedling with PRP recovery time may vary for each patient, but most patients recover within 5 days of the treatment. During this recovery time, you make experience redness, dryness, and flaking skin as your skin processes.

Wondering what PRP microneedling in Bethesda entails? Watch the video below:

PRP injections in Bethesda

PRP injections use concentrated platelets from the patient’s own blood to accelerate the healing of various parts of the body. In the medical world, this includes injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. In the cosmetic world, we use the same process to accelerate healing of the face, skin, and hair.

Microneedling with PRP vs PRP InjectionsMicroneedling with PRP vs PRP InjectionsPRP skin rejuvenation therapy is an effective and non-invasive anti-aging treatment that is injected directly into the skin . It can help improve your skin tone and texture, tighten skin, and soften lines. This procedure is beneficial for those who struggle with specific problem areas.

These photos show PRP injections before and after of this patient’s crow’s feet transformation. Her skin is smoother, less wrinkled, and youthful!

The Best Breast Surgeons in DC

Bruno|Brown Plastic Surgery Specializes in Breast Enhancement to Help You Achieve Your Dream Look

Whether you’re looking to get a breast lift, breast fat transfer, breast reconstruction, breast implants, breast reduction, or other type of breast revision in Washington, DC, Bruno|Brown Plastic Surgery is the place to go. Our breast surgeons have the experience, skills, and innovative techniques needed to help you achieve your ideal outcome.

Breast Lift, DC Plastic SurgeonsWhen it comes to breast procedures, all of the options may seem overwhelming. This blog will briefly explain each type of breast procedure to help guide you on your breast transformation journey. These are the procedures that will be covered:

It’s important to inform yourself by conducting your own research, but a consultation is even more important. Talking to the doctor about your current situation, desired outcome, and lifestyle will help you decide the best procedure for your specific goals.

DC Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation provides women with an enhanced figure by resizing and reshaping the breast to achieve a fuller look. Every patient is different, so we take a holistic approach to achieving your desired look. During your consultation, we will work closely with you to determine whether a breast implant or fat grafting can best help you achieve the ideal shape and size of your breast.

Breast Implants in DC

Breast implants are the most popular way to achieve a fuller, larger look. Despite its popularity, this procedure can be intimidating due to the decisions that come with it. Implant size, profiles, and material are important factors that will affect the way your breasts look and feel, but may seem like foreign concepts.

Breast Implants DC

  • Implant sizes are measured in cubic centimeter measurements – each patient’s body is different and may require a different sized implant to achieve a “one cup size up”
  • Implant profiles are low, moderate, or high – these will determine the shape and projection of your breasts depending on your body type
  • Saline or silicone implants – while both options are good, saline implants have a consistency similar to water while saline implants are more gel-like

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation in Washington, DC

Fat transfer breast augmentations are the best of both worlds. This procedure allows you to remove unwanted fat from one area and place it in your breasts for a natural boost of volume.

Each patient has a different idea of what they want their desired outcome to look like, and some don’t want the look of an implant or don’t need a large enough increase in volume. That being said, this procedure is difficult to ensure a specific outcome. Your fat transfer breast augmentation DC results depend on how your body processes the new fat and how much it doesn’t use.

Breast Lift in DC

During a breast lift in Washington, DC, incisions are made to sagging or droopy breasts in order to lift the breast and improve the contour. After the incisions are made, the underlying breast tissue is lifted and reshaped, the nipple and areola are repositioned, and any excess breast skin is removed.

There are four different types of breast lift incision. The doctors will work with you to evaluate which type of breast lift incision will best suit your needs.

  • Anchor: 3 basic incisions, one around the areola, one vertical to the breast crease, and one horizontal along the breast crease
  • Lollipop: 2 basic incisions, one around the areola and one vertical to the breast crease
  • Periareolar: 1 incision around the areola
  • Crescent: 1 along the top half of the areola

Breast Reduction Surgery DC

During a breast reduction in DC, excess skin, fat, and tissue are removed in order to achieve a reduced size and desired shape. Oftentimes the weight of the larger breasts causes them to sag, so the breast is also lifted during this procedure.

The amount removed will depend on the patient’s anatomy and goals. Breast reductions can be done to improve your aesthetic look, relieve physical discomfort, or both.

Breast Reconstruction in Washington, DC

Breast reconstruction procedures aim to help women reclaim and maintain their femininity by restoring or replacing the breasts. After enduring breast cancer and losing of one or both breasts, survivors deserve to resume a normal, pre-diagnosis life.

Reconstruction cases are different because it may be a different canvas the doctor is working with, you may have different expectations for your desired outcome, and there may be other factors involved that make it more unique than other cases. A consultation is especially important in these situations to determine the exact parameters of the case and ensure you are happy with the end result.

Breast Implant Revision Washington, DC

Whether you are looking to downsize your breast implants in Washington, DC, or are needing an implant repair, we can help. Implants are not made to last forever and our taste tends to change as time continues on. Revising your breast augmentation will help you feel more like yourself and ensure your body stays healthy.

You will need to consult with the doctor to provide the information of your previous procedure and determine what you want your end result to look like.

If you’re interested in any of these DC breast enhancement procedures, schedule your consultation today!

Open Your Eyes to the Benefits of Blepharoplasty in Washington, DC

Open your eyes and turn back time with blepharoplasty in DC

Our eyes are one of the most prominent features on our face. As we age, we start to notice skin laxity affecting their youthful appearance. This looseness can cause the eyelid to droop down, distorting our natural eye shape and making us look older. Eyelid surgery, known as a blepharoplasty procedure, removes excess skin to bring back your bigger, younger looking eyes

Welcome to our blog! If you’re looking for blepharoplasty before and after photos, please click here.

What is a blepharoplasty?

Dulles, VA Eyelid SurgeryA blepharoplasty is a procedure popular for removing under-eye puffiness, drooping lids, and wrinkles, reversing the signs of aging around the eyelid and surrounding areas. At Bruno|Brown, we consider the overall harmony of your facial features, rather than focusing on one area in isolation. Your doctor will consult with you to determine which areas to target to achieve the best appearance for your eyes. Sometimes this can mean considering a brow lift or facelift instead of an eyelid lift.

Here are some considerations you might discuss during your consultation:

  • Upper blepharoplasty in DC: focuses on the upper eyelid
  • Lower blepharoplasty in DC: focuses on the lower eyelid
  • Vision difficulties caused by drooping eyelids
  • Undereye puffiness
  • Lifestyle
  • Whether or not to consider adding a browpexy

What should you expect from a blepharoplasty in DC?

Eyelid surgery in Washington, DC offers a number of benefits for little recovery time. Some of these benefits include:

  • An overall more youthful appearance
  • Decreasing puffiness under the eyes
  • Lifting the appearance of hollows and brightening the appearance of dark patches under the eyes
  • Smoothing the skin around the eyes
  • Reducing the signs of aging and sun damage overall

The procedure itself is a very common procedure that has been done countless times by our doctors for years and years. Their experience and commitment to using innovative technology and techniques will give you the best possible results. Here are some things to expect from the procedure:

  • Surgical time: 1-2 hours, depending on your consultation you may add other procedures which can increase the time (browpexy, etc.)
  • Recovery time: 1-2 weeks, this can also depend on additional procedures
  • Bruising and swelling is normal and will reside over the course of your recovery time
  • No overnight hospital stay

At Bruno|Brown Plastic Surgery, we aim to help our patients achieve their goals to improve their physical and emotional happiness. We aim for your complete satisfaction with your results and will answer any questions you have along the way. Our team will also be there to support you through your blepharoplasty recovery.

Non-surgical eyelid procedures

There are alternative methods to correcting the eyes that don’t involve surgery and can benefit those who don’t qualify for the procedure. If you struggle with the look of “tired” eyes more than droopy skin, filler or botox may be good options for you. Listen to what Dr. Brown has to say about preventing and correcting tired eyes:
